This is a pleasant walk on a quiet country road, wooded banks of the Ilen River and pathways through fields with some lovely views on your return journey. Starting at the Drimoleague Railway Yard, follow the blue arrows. Walk Westward through the village and turn right to take the Quarry Road. Continue to a point where you descend into the Ilen River Gorge. Here you take in the history of Moyny bridge, cross two more footbridges and enjoy the wooded riverbank until the walk finally brings you upwards and over the ridge then back to Drimoleague village via the old Millards farm yard, the slate quarries and the old Drimoleague Water Works .

News & Updates

The Sheep’s Head Way is closed to the public on Sunday 31st January 2021

As usual each year, the Sheep’s Head Way is closed on 31 January, unless the expressed wishes of the Landowner states otherwise. This has become a customary practice which enables the landowner to grant permission for the public to access their land throughout the remaining year without risk of any public right of way being established. We hope you will respect this necessary inconvenience.

Mount Corrin loop

Due to storm damage, the forestry section of the Mount Corrin loop walk will remain closed until further notice.
