Direction

Starting at the Bantry West trailhead: Walk west for 200m, following the purple arrows, then turn left into Bantry House & Gardens through the large gate on your left. (If the gate is closed in Winter, continue along the path along the shore until you see the purple arrows turning into the Boatyard and West Lodge Hotel Gardens). This trail is initially on quiet country roads & farmland before rising to Boolteenagh where the trail continues off-road along the ridge with amazing views over Bantry Bay and Dunmanus Bay. At Loch na Fuilla (Lake of Blood), turn right & travel down to the main public road. Here, turn right and continue approximately 3km, before turning left & returning along the same trail to Bantry town.

News & Updates

The Sheep’s Head Way is closed to the public on Sunday 31st January 2021

As usual each year, the Sheep’s Head Way is closed on 31 January, unless the expressed wishes of the Landowner states otherwise. This has become a customary practice which enables the landowner to grant permission for the public to access their land throughout the remaining year without risk of any public right of way being established. We hope you will respect this necessary inconvenience.

Mount Corrin loop

Due to storm damage, the forestry section of the Mount Corrin loop walk will remain closed until further notice.
