Directions

This walk starts at the Mealagh Community Centre and is mostly along surfaced roadways and woodland paths. The route follows a quiet country road around the lush green valley before turning off road onto the woodland walk. Follow the Green arrows.

The way markers will direct you where to turn off the road to cross the river over a foot bridge. This path takes you along a riverbank and through the woods. It eventually leads you to the opposite side of the valley and the return journey along a roadway back to the community centre.

Although the trail is considered an easy grade to walk it can be slippery along the soft paths through the woods and after heavy rains there may be some flooding along the riverbank.

News & Updates

The Sheep’s Head Way is closed to the public on Sunday 31st January 2021

As usual each year, the Sheep’s Head Way is closed on 31 January, unless the expressed wishes of the Landowner states otherwise. This has become a customary practice which enables the landowner to grant permission for the public to access their land throughout the remaining year without risk of any public right of way being established. We hope you will respect this necessary inconvenience.

Mount Corrin loop

Due to storm damage, the forestry section of the Mount Corrin loop walk will remain closed until further notice.
